Frommer's Los Cabos & Baja, 3rd Edition February 5, 2010 Sacramento Book Review (Sacramento, CA) //Frommer's Los Cabos & Baja// is a conveniently small yet comprehensive guide to Mexico's Baja California that provides a solid base of information for all travelers, as well as tailored advice to more specialized interests ranging from people looking for luxury to surfers who want to camp near the ocean. The clear, tri-colored maps, as well as a set of helpful symbols--representing good deals, insider's finds, overrated sights, and activities for kids--help travelers quickly feel comfortable in new cities.
As an American journalist working a newspaper in Mexico City, author Joy Hepp is well qualified to share travel experiences in Mexico. She is honest about the current drug-related violence and provides candid comments and suggested itineraries throughout the guide that will point travelers exactly where--and where not to--go. When reporting on hotels and restaurants, the guide represents inexpensive through top-end options, but does not offer much coverage of shoestring travel options such as hostels and public transportation.
//Frommer's Los Cabos & Baja// would be a great guide for anyone vacationing in the Los Cabos area, as well as Southern California residents who take weekend trips to the northern part of the peninsula.

I've been going to Cabo for years and I can tell you there's nothing remarkable about this book. They actually sugest Cabo Wabo is a main attraction. Anyone who's been to Cabo knows there are much better places. The book has almost no pictures, the few maps are useless and the restaurant recomendations are predictable.
Do yourself a favor, save the $10 and ask a Cabo Taxi driver to show you around.

Was shock in the lack of detail and inside info on hotels, activities, and restaurants. Heading to Cabo San Lucas in Nov 06 and did not even list our 4 star hotel that has been around for decades with the exception of a one liner about festival night, nor the two pirate ship cruises, glass bottom boats, ultra lite info, baja racing....well you get the idea. If you have not been there before you would assume there is nothing to do but club, whale watch, golf and eat. Good general info for Mexico traveling.
No help at all. August 16, 2008 J. A. Mills (Charlotte, NC) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
My husband and I purchased this book to help us as we traveled in Cabo. The information was incomplete, inaccurate, and dated. It failed to warn travelers about the constant barrage of time-share vendors (even in the grocery store and before you leave the airport) and omitted practical advice in dealing with them. The prices listed were too low. The "quality" of many of the restaurants listed was inaccurate. We got more practical tips from local literature. This book was a waste of money.
